IRAN HELPFUL INFORMATION
Arrival Travelers
Gold and Exchange: Every passenger is allowed to have gold for his personal use. Otherwise, it should be reported to the customs officials. Upon arrival, each passenger must declare his currency to the bank located at the airport. The amount of currency allowed for each passenger will be equal to the previously announced amount.
Other goods: the import of alcoholic beverages, playing cards, etc., which is prohibited for gambling, weapons, explosives, drugs, and all kinds of publications, films, and images, and all products that are contrary to Iran’s religious and national affairs. The import of tapes and publications is allowed if visited and approved by representatives of the Ministry of Guidance stationed at the entry gates.
Departure Travelers
Every passenger who leaves Iran can have his personal belongings within the scope of non-commercial nature. There is no limit on the amount of handicrafts and other Iranian products (with the exception of carpets which will be explained below):
Nuts: Every passenger who leaves Iran is allowed to take nuts with him. The maximum allowed amount of pistachios is 10 kg of saffron by people with a valid passport, and the companions cannot have any amount of the mentioned items.
Carpet: Passengers who leave Iran by air can take a maximum of 24 square meters of carpet.
Temporary entry of cars: Temporary entry of passenger cars is possible as follows: Foreign nationals and Iranians living abroad can temporarily import their cars by receiving a carton or trip booklet from the motor centers of the original country. These cars must be taken out of Iran after the end of the allowed period (3 months). Travelers who could not get a carnet or triptych in the country of origin, get a temporary entry permit at the entry border by putting down a deposit or a bank guarantee.
